Syracuse, New York – The Syracuse Regional Airport Authority (SRAA) announced today the completed installation of the 2024-2025 SYR Community Art Program at Syracuse Hancock International Airport (SYR). Spread across both the pre- and post-security checkpoint areas of the airport, the display features artwork from 288 local artists who may not otherwise have a platform to display their artistic talents.

After the initial launch in 2020, the program has grown to represent 20 organizations spread across six counties in the airport’s catchment area, or the region the airport serves. This latest installation features artwork from organizations in Onondaga, Oswego, Madison, Cortland, Cayuga, and Oneida counties. Organizations represented in this year’s program include school districts, libraries, organizations supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, youth advocacy organizations, juvenile detention centers, and senior living facilities.

“We believe an airport should be a reflection of the community it serves,” said SRAA Customer Experience Manager Matt Szwejbka, who oversees the Community Art Program. “You’ll often hear leadership here at the airport talk about creating a ‘sense of place.’ The Community Art Program helps visitors to the region get a sense of this place we call Central New York while locals are filled with pride as they see a family member, friend, or neighbor showcased in the program.”
