SYR Terminal Expansion Project

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Federal Inspection Station Upgrades, North and South Concourse Expansion

Welcome to the gateway of the future at Syracuse Hancock International Airport (SYR)!

Embark on a journey with us as we transform your travel experience into something extraordinary. Our Terminal Expansion Project is not just a series of construction sites around the airport; it’s a visionary endeavor to redefine how you explore the world.

Supported in part by a $20 million grant from the New York State Upstate Airport Economic Development and Revitalization Competition, we’re breaking barriers and reaching new heights. This multi-year effort is more than just bricks and mortar – it will expand horizons and help create unforgettable memories.

Get ready to soar through expanded gate hold seating areas and glide onto sleek new jet bridges, designed with your comfort and convenience in mind. Hungry for adventure? Discover an array of enticing new concessions options waiting to tantalize your taste buds.

But that’s not all. Brace yourself for a transformation like no other as we upgrade our Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Federal Inspection Station (FIS) into a state-of-the-art facility. This cutting-edge hub will be the heartbeat of our international arrivals, seamlessly processing passengers from around the globe.

So, fasten your seatbelt and prepare for takeoff. The future of travel is here, and the Syracuse Regional Airport Authority (SRAA) team here at SYR is grateful to be Serving Your Region!

Welcome aboard!

More About the Project

In September 2022, New York State Govern Kathy Hochul announced $230 million in awards to nine upstate airports as part of the Upstate Airport Economic Development and Revitalization Competitions. The awards will fund revitalization projects that reimagine and further modernize airports across Upstate New York.

Syracuse Hancock International Airport (SYR) was awarded $20 million for two projects. The first involves essential upgrades to our airport’s Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Federal Inspection Station (FIS). The second involves enhancement and expansion of our north concourse (Terminal B).

View the full announcement here.

The grant program dictates that work should be completed no later than January 1, 2025.

SYR travelers are reminded to always arrive to the airport at least two hours prior to their scheduled departure. These construction projects will make that even more important than ever.

Additionally, travelers should double-check their departure gate as flights may be displaced from their “normal” gate due to construction.
