United Airlines Announces New Nonstop Service from SYR to Denver

United Airlines today announced it is continuing to strengthen its domestic route network by offering new daily service between Denver (DEN) and Syracuse Hancock International Airport (SYR) starting June 6. The new flight will operate with two-cabin E-175 regional aircraft and offer customers convenient connections at United’s Denver hub to domestic and international destinations.

The new flight improves connection opportunities to popular destinations including Las Vegas, San Diego, Palm Springs, California, Reno, Nevada and Jackson Hole, Wyoming, as well as creating a way for New Yorkers to travel to places like Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Billings, Montana, Medford, Oregon and Santa Barbara, California with just one stop. Tickets are now available for purchase for the flight, which begins on June 6.

“Syracuse’s economic vitality and future growth is something that United is proud to be part of and support,” said Jill Kaplan, United’s President of New York and New Jersey. “The launch of the service between Denver and Syracuse will be United’s only service from Denver to Upstate New York, illustrating the company’s commitment to the region.”

“The announcement of a new United Airlines flight to Denver is yet another victory for Central New York air travelers and is proof the $65M renovation of Hancock – $9M of which I was proud to secure – continues to attract new business and flights to the area,” said U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer. “The creation of this route will increase travel options by connecting Central New Yorkers to new domestic routes and countless international flights out of Denver, as well adding competition to the growing market. I was proud to work with Hancock to realize this critical and important launch, and will always fight to bring expanded air services to Central New York.”

“United’s commitment to Syracuse and the Central New York region has been unwavering as evidenced by the addition of year-round daily service to a key business and leisure hub for our community – Denver International Airport – the fifth busiest airport in the U.S. and a major hub for United Airlines,” said Christina Callahan, Executive Director, Syracuse Regional Airport Authority.  “We are grateful to United Airlines for their partnership and continued commitment to support air travel to Central New Yorker’s.”

“I am excited that United is expanding its investment in Syracuse by offering daily direct flights to Denver,” said Rep. John Katko (NY-24). “This new route will provide travelers in Central New York greater options and flexibility and keep our community open for business. I applaud Christina Callahan and her team at Syracuse International Airport for their tremendous work to improve the airport facilities and attract these types of investments in our community.”

“Revitalizing our upstate airports is crucial to economic development and also plays a major role in our ongoing efforts to transform the state’s aging infrastructure,” said New York Governor Andrew M. Cuomo. “Today’s announcement with United is the direct result of New York State’s $35.8 million investment to turn Syracuse Hancock International Airport into a state-of-the-art facility, with additional flight capacity to generate even more business activity for our state and attract new visitors from across the country.”

“Denver has long been an important destination for the business community, and we are grateful to United for launching direct service to a major destination and hub,” said Jo Anne Gagliano, Chair, Syracuse Regional Airport Authority. “The Authority’s mission has been clear from the beginning – low cost airport transportation service, and more service to more destinations. 2018 was an historic year for Syracuse Hancock International Airport, and it looks like 2019 is off to a great start thanks to our partners at United Airlines.”

“The United Denver announcement is great news for our city and our region,” said Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh. “Expansions from major hubs like Denver, a high-demand business route, allow more opportunities for frequent flyers to explore and visit Syracuse. We’re excited that Syracuse will be the only Upstate market with daily, non-stop service to/from Denver. Thank you to staff from the city of Syracuse, Hancock Airport, and our business community who continue to grow the city’s presence in this market.”

“I’m excited to join other local leaders in once again applauding the addition of another major route for Hancock Airport,” said Assembly member Al Stirpe (D-Cicero). “This service to Denver will open a new gateway to the west for local business travelers and families alike. And, it is just the latest in a steady line of improvements and service upgrades we’ve seen at our airport. Thanks to United Airlines and Syracuse Hancock International Airport for working to make this a reality.”

“This is another exciting addition to all the good things that are going on at Syracuse Hancock International Airport,” said J. Ryan McMahon, II, Onondaga County Executive.Direct, daily flights to Denver is an outstanding option for our business and leisure travelers and will certainly help to stimulate one of my main initiatives in Economic Development.”

“In a globally connected economy, convenient air travel options are more important than ever to business competitiveness,” said Robert Simpson, president of CenterState CEO, in Syracuse.  “United’s new daily non-stops between Denver and Syracuse will benefit some of Central New York’s key industries which have strong ties to Colorado, including aerospace, defense, engineering and higher education.  On behalf of the business community, we were pleased to work closely with the airport authority and the City of Syracuse to bring these flights to Hancock Airport.  We want to thank United for making Syracuse its first year-round, mid-sized destination in the northeast with non-stop flights from Denver.”
