Low-Cost Carrier, Frontier Airlines announces new low fare, non-stop flights from Syracuse International Airport. Beginning in July, the airline will introduce the only nonstop service to Denver and Raleigh/Durham; Beginning in August, Frontier will also add non-stop service to Chicago – O’Hare and Orlando. The airline revealed the destinations today at an event with airport officials. To celebrate the introduction of these flights Frontier is offering special intro one-way fares as low as $29.

“We are proud to call Syracuse our new home,” said Rick Zeni, Chief Information Officer – Frontier Airlines. “With our new flights to Chicago O’Hare, Denver, Orlando, and Raleigh, we are making air travel more accessible and affordable for travelers to and from central New York and surrounding areas. We look forward to serving this community with our unique brand of Low Fares Done Right.”
“Frontier’s commitment is a strong affirmation of the Authority and Airport’s focus on bringing additional carriers to provide a broad array of affordable destinations,” said Patrick Mannion, Airport Authority Chair.

“We are elated to have Frontier Airlines call Syracuse International Airport their new home,” said Christina Callahan, Airport Executive Director. “This historic announcement will be a watershed moment for the Airport Authority. Never in the history of the airport have we provided direct service to Denver and Raleigh-Durham, and to secure these new markets, along with additional service to Chicago and Orlando – this is a new day for the airport. We have heard you Central New York, and we bring you Frontier Airlines.”

“Today’s announcement is further proof that if you invest in a community’s infrastructure, good economic news follows. The $48M renovation of Hancock – $9M of which is federal funding I helped land – has breathed new life into the airport, attracting new business and flights to the area,” said U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer. “I have made it a priority to expand air service in Central New York because there is no question about it – increased access to air travel is good for businesses, good for jobs, and good for the economic health of a community.”

“Today’s announcement that Frontier Airlines will begin nonstop service out of Syracuse to several cities nationwide is exciting news for Central New Yorkers and local businesses. I commend Syracuse Airport Executive Director Christina Callahan for her forward thinking and consistent efforts to attract new carriers and make travel more convenient and manageable for passengers. Alongside the Airport’s ongoing upgrades, I am confident that these newly added services out of Syracuse  will boost our region’s revitalization efforts and help grow our local economy,” said U.S.Representative John Katko.

Governor Andrew Cuomo said: “This service expansion demonstrates that New York’s
unprecedented $36 million investment to transform Syracuse Hancock International
Airport into a modern-day facility is already paying off. Like other airports that have
benefited from our Upstate Airport Competition, the revitalization of Syracuse
Hancock is boosting economic development, attracting new businesses, creating new
jobs and expanding tourism opportunities. We’re reimagining and rebuilding the
gateways to this State, and this new partnership with Frontier will help ensure Central
New York remains economically competitive for decades to come.”

“Today’s announcement from Frontier Airlines is yet another positive sign of
economic growth here in Central New York,” said Lieutenant Governor Kathy
Hochul. “As I travel to communities across Upstate New York, I see the results of our
economic development strategy and Governor Cuomo’s focus on bringing upstate
back. Thanks to a significant investment from New York State, the Syracuse Hancock
International Airport is undergoing a transformation. Travelers coming through
Syracuse will soon have a new modern airport, and thanks to Frontier, a variety of
new destinations to explore.”

“Frontier Airlines’ arrival at Syracuse Hancock International Airport is great news for
Syracuse air travelers,” said Mayor Walsh. “Direct service to Chicago, Denver,
Orlando and Raleigh Durham will make it easier and more affordable for business and
leisure fliers to get where they want to go. Congratulations to the Syracuse Regional
Airport Authority for bringing Frontier Airlines to our community.”

“Whether taking a vacation or traveling for business, convenient non-stop flights and
competitive airfares are top priorities,” said Rob Simpson, president of CenterState
CEO. “We’re pleased to welcome Frontier Airlines as it brings some of the lowest
airfares in the industry to our community with non-stops to Chicago, Denver, Orlando
and Raleigh-Durham. These new flights open new access for visitors to Syracuse, new
choices for our community and will have a real impact on our economy.”
