TSA Pre✓™

An Expedited Screening Initiative

TSA Pre✓™ is an expedited screening initiative that is expanding to airports across the country. Implementing a key component of the agency’s intelligence-driven, risk-based approach to security, TSA Pre✓™ enhances aviation security by placing more focus on pre-screening individuals who volunteer to participate to expedite the travel experience.

TSA is partnering with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) as well as U.S. air carriers as part of this initiative. Passengers that are eligible for TSA Pre✓™ include U.S. citizens of frequent flier programs who have been invited by a participating airline. Additionally, U.S. citizens who are members of a CBP Trusted Traveler program, including Global Entry, SENTRI, and NEXUS and Canadian citizens who are members of NEXUS that are issued a Known Traveler Number qualify to participate. Passengers 12 and younger are allowed through TSA Pre✓™ lanes with eligible passengers.

At Syracuse Hancock International Airport (SYR), the enrollment center is located on the 1st level, pre-security checkpoint.

Nexus Niagara

NEXUS is a joint program between U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Canada Border Services Agency designed to expedite the border clearance process for low-risk, pre-approved travelers. The program allows pre-screened travelers expedited processing through dedicated NEXUS lanes at designated northern border ports of entry, at NEXUS kiosks at Canadian Pre-clearance airports, and at marine reporting locations. Approved NEXUS members receive a Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative compliant Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) card for use when crossing the border. Individuals interested in using NEXUS for air travel must also undergo an iris capture in order to utilize the program at airports.
