Important Information
Regarding Security Checkpoints

All passengers departing out of Syracuse Hancock International Airport (SYR) should follow each airline’s recommended guidelines regarding when to arrive at the airport prior to a scheduled flight.

Local Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officials recommend that passengers arrive at least 2 hours prior to their scheduled departure time. Delays may change a flight’s actual departure time, but it is important to note that the security checkpoint follows the regularly-scheduled departure times of our airline partners, and is not open 24/7.

Currently, the TSA security checkpoint is open daily from 3:30 AM to 9:00 PM.

Additionally, our local TSA partners strongly urge passengers to promptly proceed to the security checkpoint after check in and/or checking baggage. Those passengers who have checked in previously and have no checked baggage are asked to immediately proceed to the security checkpoint upon arrival to the airport. This will ensure passengers have enough time to clear the security screening process and arrive at their gate in time to catch their flight.

SYR has one centralized security checkpoint that screens passengers traveling out of all gates. The checkpoint is accessed through the central lobby of the airport and is located on the second floor. All passengers enter the TSA security checkpoint directly ahead of the center escalators. Please follow signs to your appropriate queue (General Boarding, Wheelchair/Strollers, Crew Members, TSA PreCheck). If entering the TSA PreCheck queue, please confirm TSA PreCheck is printed on your boarding pass.
