REAL ID Requirements for Domestic Air Travel
Beginning May 7, 2025, federal law requires that all travelers boarding a domestic flight present identification that meets REAL ID standards. This means:
- A REAL ID–compliant driver’s license or
- An Enhanced driver’s license or
- A valid U.S. passport
Starting February 1, 2026, TSA will offer a Confirm.ID service for travelers who arrive without a REAL ID. This identity verification option costs $45 and is valid for 10 days.
