Dr. Shiu-Kai Chin

Dr. Chin is Professor Emeritus of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Syracuse University. His research is in formal verification, security, trustworthy systems, and mission assurance. His research is supported and used by government agencies such as the National Security Agency and the Air Force Research Laboratory to verify the trustworthiness of mission systems. His research is used by industry, such as JP Morgan Chase and Northrop Grumman, to verify the security and integrity of their command, control, and communication systems.

Beyond Syracuse University, Shiu-Kai was a senior engineer and program manager for eleven years at the General Electric Aerospace Electronics Laboratory designing special purpose systems and custom chips. For four years, he was a research scientist at the Air Force Research Laboratory’s Defensive Information Warfare Branch.

In 2024, Dr. Chin was awarded Syracuse University’s Chancellor’s Medal – the highest honor bestowed by the university.
