Syracuse, New York – The Syracuse Regional Airport Authority (SRAA), operator of Syracuse Hancock International Airport (SYR), will hold three food drives this week to support local airport federal employees who have worked without a paycheck since the government shutdown began October 1st of this year. These drives were prompted by numerous requests from the public for information on how to assist federal employees at the airport. This Wednesday, November 5th, Thursday, November 6th, and Friday, November 7th, members of the public may conveniently drop off donations of non-perishable food items at the Arrivals A curb line of the airport between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Airport volunteers will be on hand to receive the donations curbside and facilitate the transfer of the donations to federal employees. Drivers entering the airport property along Col. Eileen Collins Blvd. should follow the large blue signs for “Arrivals A” by turning right at the light onto Constellation Way, then left onto Air Cargo Rd.

“Despite going without a paycheck since October 1st, our federal partners continue to show up to work to help keep our airport running safely, securely, and efficiently,” said SRAA Executive Director Jason Terreri. “Our airport community – including members of the traveling public –recognize that without our federal partners, the airport will not be able to operate. We are happy to provide a conduit through which further assistance can flow.”
