Syracuse, New York – The Syracuse Regional Airport Authority (SRAA), operator of Syracuse Hancock International Airport (SYR), will hold three food drives next week to support local Transportation Security Administration (TSA) who have worked without a paycheck since the second government shutdown began February 14th of this year. These drives were prompted by numerous requests from the public for information on how to assist TSA employees at the airport. This Wednesday, March 18th, Thursday, March 19th, and Friday, March 20th, members of the public may conveniently drop off donations of non-perishable food items at the Arrivals A curb line of the airport between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Airport volunteers will be on hand to receive the donations curbside and facilitate the transfer of the donations to federal employees. Drivers entering the airport property along Col. Eileen Collins Blvd. should follow the large blue signs for “Arrivals A” by turning right at the light onto Constellation Way, then left onto Air Cargo Rd.

“During this government shutdown, the TSA team at SYR continues to show up, serve our community, and protect the traveling public—despite not receiving a paycheck” said SRAA Executive Director Jason Terreri.  “Their professionalism and commitment are the reason this airport can operate each day. We are profoundly grateful for their dedication, their resilience, and their unwavering service to Central New York.”
