Syracuse, New York – The Syracuse Regional Airport Authority (SRAA) held its annual State of the Airport event this morning at The Oncenter, where more than 200 attendees gathered to hear insightful presentations from airport leadership and industry experts. The event also marked the official release of the SRAA’s 2025 Annual Report to the Community, available digitally for public viewing on the SRAA website found here: 2025 Annual Report.
SRAA Executive Director Jason Terreri highlighted a year of strong performance in 2025, outlining notable achievements, anticipated challenges for both the airport and the broader Central New York region, and the Authority’s strategic vision for enhancing the passenger experience at Syracuse Hancock International Airport (SYR) in 2026 and beyond.
Guest speaker John Heimlich, Vice President & Chief Economist at Airlines for America, provided attendees with an aviationwide perspective on the aviation sector. Drawing on more than two decades of experience in airline economics and energy policy, Heimlich offered insights into national and global aviation trends, airline financial performance, labor and operational challenges, and the broader forces shaping the future of commercial aviation. His analysis helped contextualize SYR’s role within the larger U.S. airline network and the evolving air travel landscape.
“We’re grateful for all the elected and appointed officials, members of the business community, and community leaders who joined us for our State of the Airport event this morning,” said SRAA Executive Director Jason Terreri. “As SYR continues to evolve, our partnerships across the community are more important than ever. Together, we’re building an airport that can meet rising demand and position our region for longterm success.”
