Syracuse, New York – American Airlines and the Syracuse Regional Airport Authority (SRAA) celebrated the inaugural flight of American Airlines’ nonstop service from Syracuse Hancock International Airport (SYR) to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) this morning, Wednesday, August 18, 2021.
“From business-centric destinations to leisure hot spots, Central New Yorkers will benefit greatly from this newly announced route to DFW,” said SRAA Executive Director Jason Terreri. “We know this has been a huge priority for our business community members, and leisure-seekers will benefit from increased connectivity to some of the more popular destinations west of the Mississippi River.”
Passengers and crew were treated to a party near Gate 9 of the airport, including balloons, cupcakes, and giveaways. The departing flight left at 7:10 am and was given a ceremonial water cannon salute by the airport’s Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) team.
Initial estimates place the economic impact of this new service to the Central New York Region at $16 million per year.
This route is served daily by an Embraer E175 aircraft accommodating 76 passengers in a two-cabin configuration.
American Airlines also offers service from SYR to Boston, MA (BOS), Chicago, IL (ORD), Charlotte, NC (CLT), Philadelphia, PA (PHL) and Washington, D.C. (DCA).
