Syracuse, New York – The Syracuse Regional Airport Authority (SRAA) announced today that Syracuse Hancock International Airport (SYR) has been selected as an Honorable Mention for the Small Hub Airport category of the 2020/2021 Balchen/Post Award.
The Honorable Mention was announced this morning, August 16, 2021, by the Northeast Chapter of the American Association of Airport Executives (NEC-AAAE) at their annual International Aviation Snow Symposium. The international award is intended to recognize and promote excellence in snow and ice control at airports.
First held in April 1967, the International Aviation Snow Symposium serves as a forum for dialogue on the numerous aspects of winter operations at airports. This year’s symposium was held in Burlington, VT.
“Year after year, our exceptional snow and ice control teams work hard to keep the SYR airfield safe and operational – despite the worst Mother Nature has to throw at us,” said SRAA Executive Director Jason Terreri. “We are grateful to see our crews receive international recognition for their much-appreciated efforts.”
SYR earned the Honorable Mention in the Small Commercial (Less than 100,000 operations per year) category.
