Syracuse, New York –The Syracuse Regional Airport Authority (SRAA) announced today that American Airlines will launch limited seasonal, nonstop service to Miami International Airport (MIA) during the month of February. Travelers departing Syracuse Hancock International Airport (SYR) will be able to trade Upstate New York’s snow and cold for the sun and warmth of south Florida thanks to this less than four-hour nonstop flight.
To better align with winter break demand to South Florida, American Airlines announced one more outbound nonstop flight on February 13 and a new return nonstop flight on February 20.
“We are excited that our partners at American Airlines have decided to expand their presence at SYR with this seasonal offering to Miami,” said SYR Executive Director Jason Terreri. “We fully expect this route to be hugely popular with winter break travelers seeking to quickly – and conveniently – leave the snow and cold behind for a bit.”
With this announcement, the list of nonstop destinations available from SYR grows to 25 – nine of which are in the sunshine state.
“This February our customers in Syracuse will have the ability to not only visit sunny Miami, but also enjoy one-stop access to more than 40 destinations in the Caribbean and Latin America that we serve from our Miami hub, from the warm waters and white sand beaches in Jamaica to the beautiful waterfalls and rainforests in Costa Rica,” said Brian Znotins, American’s Vice President of Network Planning.
